But what is behind this?
In aesthetic surgery, we change the visual appearance of an area of the body by modifying at least the surrounding tissue. As pleasant as the word `modifying` sounds, it does not change the fact that we are exposing the tissue to a force and thus injuring it. Since childhood we have all known the swelling and bruising that occur as a result of an injury. Whether from a fall while a child makes the first steps or from a surgical procedure, the tissue becomes wounded and collects tissue fluid or blood for healing. As a result, this becomes visible in the form of swelling or bruising. Cold constricts tissues and blood vessels and this is exactly why we use it to aid healing in the event of an injury.
For this reason, the motto after every surgical procedure is:
"Cool, cool and cool!"
In order to optimally counteract swelling and the resulting pain, cooling compresses and the well-known cool pads are often used after an operation.
With the introduction of Hilotherm in 2006, the cooling method experienced significant development. This innovative method achieves optimal cooling by putting on the Hilotherm mask. This consists of cuffs through which water flows at a temperature of 15-20 degrees.
Especially in the facial area, the relief of swelling and pain leads to a significantly increased well-being of the patient after a surgical intervention. Thus, operations in the face, such as a chin or nose correction, where the result of swelling is much feared, can be optimally promoted in the healing process.
In this process, the cooling flows can be controlled separately.
The following advantages can be observed by using Hilotherm:
The positive effect on the healing process that Hilotherm is said to, have attracted our attention and exceeded our expectations. Our experience with it turned out to be highly positive and for this reason we decided to offer our patients hilotherapy in after surgical operations in the facial area on request.
