SADI-S OPERATION

In the SADI-S operation (Single anastomosis duodeno–ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy), a gastric sleeve is first formed and the stomach is severed directly after the pylorus. The duodenum behind it, is being connected to the small intestine. Similar to gastric bypass, this procedure completely shuts off the passage of food through the duodenum.

For whom is an SADI-S Operation Suitable and How is it Performed?

The SADI-S operation is suitable as a revision operation after a previous gastric sleeve operation that did not result in a satisfactory weight reduction. The presence of type II diabetes can also be an indicator for preferring this procedure. With this method, the diversion of digestive juices means that fats and starches are only digested to a limited extent.

FAQ

What kind of risks can occur?

As with all surgical procedures, a gastric bypass involves certain risks that cannot be ruled out. A distinction must be made here between the general risks of general anesthesia, intolerance to medication, including local anesthesia, and the specific risks of

Gastric bypass. In addition to the general risks of an operation, the following specific risks are to be assessed as increased in an gastric bypass operation:

  • Bleeding, infections and wound healing disorders.
  • The assessment and explanation of the risks must always be made individually and depending on the patient and his anamnesis in a detailed consultation with the operating doctor.

When can I do sports again?

Possible after hospital discharge. Slowly increase moderate training

When can I go back to work?

You can go back to work after your stay in the clinic.

What do I have to consider after the operation?

The SADI-S operation also means a change in the intestinal anatomy. In addition to the restrictive component, the malabsorptive component is also addressed in this method. For this reason, regular checks and vitamin substitution are necessary. It should also be noted that a change in diet should also be included in the aftercare process. We are convinced that the support of nutritional coaching has a significant impact on long-term weight loss success and weight maintenance. As the nutrition factor not only contributes to success, but is a necessity for health, our aftercare concept provides a nutritional advice in Germany and also regularly controls of your blood values.

How long does the operation and the stay take?

The procedure takes 2 hours. You should plan a hospital stay of 5-6 days.
