RHINOPLASTY

In the age of Instagram and Co., the center of the face, the nose, has become increasingly important for many people.

Filters are often used on social media to make the nose appear smaller, finer and more symmetrical. It is all the more annoying when your own nose deviates from this appearance of the small, fine, symmetrical nose.

Here it is important to see how high the level of suffering is, because a nose correction or rhinoplasty is one of the most demanding operations.

For this reason, it is extremely important to discuss the idea of nose surgery very thoroughly on an individual basis. Not every nose suits every face and even an expert in this field cannot guarantee that the end result will be exactly as you imagine it, e.g. based on photos.

This is mainly due to the healing process after the rhinoplasty. Asymmetric scarring afterwards or severe swelling can shift the new structure of the nose.

For this reason, we would like to figure a suitable way with you that takes your ideas into account and at the same time make a realistic assessment of the implementation of a nose correction.

For Whom is a Rhinoplasty Suitable and How is it Performed?

In principle, anyone who suffers from their nose, such as a crooked nose, a nose that is too wide, a humped nose, a long nose, a saddle nose or the shape of the tip of the nose as significantly disturbing, can undergo a nose correction.

We believe that it is reasonable to wait until the age of 21 to consider this drastic operation. Rhinoplasty is not possible during pregnancy and in persons under the age of 18. Depending on the technique used, the operation lasts between 45 and 120 minutes.

Different techniques also mean that with some surgical techniques, temponades must be placed afterwards and then removed again in the clinic at a later point in time.

What Techniques are There?

A rough distinction is made between the closed and open access.

With a closed approach, the incision is made only on the nasal mucosa in the nose (not visible). With the help of surgical instruments, for example, the structure of the nasal hump can be shaped or the nasal septum can be straightened.

The advantage here is that it the operation does not leave any visible scar. At the same time, it must be mentioned that not all modern surgical techniques can be used.

With open access, an additional incision is made between the nostrils. The advantage is that even the smallest nasal structures are exposed, making them visible to the operating doctor. In addition, the open method allows a larger selection of surgical techniques. The disadvantage of this method is that it leaves a scar, which in most cases is barely visible, especially with good postoperative care.

Will My Nose Be Broken During Rhinoplasty?

Nowadays there are various methods that enable modeling of the nose without breaking bones. The ultrasonic technique offers an alternative to bone modeling without fracture.

Alternatives

The treatment of the nose with hyaluronic acid is a non-surgical method of modeling the nose. The advantage in it is that the risks of an operation do not have to be taken. But unfortunately, the result is not permanent and this alternative is not suitable for every nose.

Post Rhinoplasty Correction

Of course, we would also be happy to advise you if you wish to have a post-rhinoplasty correction.

It should be noted here that a nose correction is much more demanding to operate than an untreated nose.

The scarring caused by an operation in this area and the reduced structure of the nose represent a particularly great challenge for the doctor performing the operation. For this reason, the risk and benefit must also be carefully weighed up in this case.
